UW Health Breaks Ground on Eastpark Medical Center

17th May 2022, Madison, Wis. ‒ UW Health broke ground on its Eastpark Medical Center, a state-of-the-art new facility on Madison’s east side.

Building on its long reputation as an innovator in patient care, UW Health was the first health system in the world to announce it will utilize upright treatment technology in its proton therapy centre.

UW Health and Leo Cancer Care Announce Partnership

UW Health is the first in Wisconsin to break ground on a proton beam radiation therapy program for cancer patients. Based out of Eastpark Medical Center, UW Health’s proton therapy program will offer precision radiation treatment that allows for highly targeted treatment of tumors.

Partnering with Leo Cancer Care, UW Health will also become the first center in the world to sign with Leo Cancer Care to deliver proton therapy using groundbreaking upright treatment technology.

Proton Therapy Provider Chosen for UW Health Eastpark Medical Center

MADISON, Wis. July 27, 2022– UW Health has selected Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501, "Hitachi") to provide the infrastructure to support proton therapy at UW Health Eastpark Medical Center.


Hitachi will provide equipment and technology to support UW Health's traditional proton therapy room equipped with spot scanning irradiation technology, a 360° rotating gantry with cone-beam CT, and Real-time image Gated Proton Therapy (RGPT), as well as the revolutionary upright proton therapy, coming to UW Health from Leo Cancer Care.
