The development of an upright proton arc therapy treatment technique represents a paradigm shift in the field that will combine technological and therapeutical advances which will make our Center a unique Institution capable of delivering the most advanced proton delivery mode in the world.

Accelerating World-class research

Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute will be the first facility in the world to install the Leo Cancer Care solution into an existing fixed proton beam treatment room, allowing the center to accelerate world-class research into the benefits of Proton Arc Therapy and proton imaging.

Advancing proton arc therapy research

Current Proton Beam Therapy sees a gantry rotate around the patient stopping three to four occasions to deliver the beam, whereas with Proton Arc Therapy the proton beams are delivered continuously as the gantry rotates through partial arcs around the patient. This new technique aims to improve the dose delivery to the tumour resulting in better sparing of healthy tissue.

Upright imaging and positioning technologies could dramatically simplify the delivery of Proton Arc Therapy.
